Gundog Foundation Workshop 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Location: The Old House Farm, Oddley Lane, Saunderton, Bucks HP27 9NQ Cost: £80 per handler for the two weekly 2 hour sessions. Workshop Overview: Join us at The Old House Farm in a secure 3-acre paddock. This 2 hours workshop is suitable for puppies and dogs of all gundog breeds (including pet gundogs) aged 6 months or older, and provides an ideal opportunity to enhance your bond with your dog while refining essential gundog skills. Whether you're preparing for fieldwork, working tests, or simply looking to improve everyday walks and focus on your rather than the environment and other dogs/people, we’ll cover key skills to help you succeed. In each 2-hour session, we’ll focus on some of the following core gundog skills: Focus & Attention: Strengthening your dog’s engagement with you. Heel Work: Encouraging controlled walking at your side. Reliable Recall: Ensuring a quick and dependable return using a whistle, then with a retrieve. Steadiness & Handling: Teaching calmness and self-control to a thrown dummy or another dog running past Stop Whistle: Introduction and building it into retrieving and handling Hunting & Delivery: Developing hunting instincts and a controlled tidy delivery. Obstacles & Retrieves: Building confidence with small obstacles and working on retrieves. (Obstacles are very small, but should be for dogs over 1 year of age.) Who Can Attend? This course is suitable for all gundog breeds (including pet gundogs) aged 6 months or older, with a reliable recall and an interest in retrieving and hunting. Dogs should be comfortable training in a group environment and not display excessive barking, which is disruptive to the group. Additional Information: Equipment: Bring a dummy and whistle if you have them; or alternative you can purchase a whistle and dummies. If you are purchasing your own please contact me to make sure you're getting the correct ones for the age and ability of your dog. Refund Policy: No refunds or exchanges for missed sessions unless a vet’s letter is provided. Health & Attendance: Dogs showing signs of kennel cough or bitches in season cannot attend. Meeting Point: Please arrive 10 minutes before class on the gravel drive at the front of the house. I will greet you there. Note: Photos may be taken during sessions for use on social media.
